Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or veggie patty alternatives)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
4 small potatoes, thinly sliced (optional)
4 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite melting cheese)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
4 sheets of aluminum foil
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients:
Preheat the grill to medium heat (or set the oven to 400°F/200°C).
Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Slice the vegetables and potatoes (if using).
Assemble the Foil Packets:
Cut 4 large pieces of aluminum foil.
Place a portion of seasoned ground beef in the center of each foil piece.
Top with sliced onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and potatoes (if using).
Add a slice of cheese on top of the patty.
Wrap the Packets:
Fold the sides of the foil up, then crimp the top to seal each packet tightly. Ensure the foil is sealed properly to trap in the steam while cooking.
Cook:
Place the foil packets on the grill or in the oven. Cook for 25–30 minutes, or until the burger is fully cooked (check the temperature for ground beef: 160°F/71°C).
Serve:
Carefully open the foil packets (watch out for the hot steam). Serve the burgers as is or with buns, lettuce wraps, and your favorite condiments.
Notes
Customizing Your Burger: Feel free to add any of your favorite burger toppings like avocado, pickles, or tomatoes once your packet is cooked. You can also substitute veggies based on what you have in your fridge.
Make-Ahead Option: These packets can be prepped in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Just pop them on the grill or in the oven when you’re ready to cook.
For a Smoky Flavor: Add a dash of BBQ sauce or a sprinkle of smoked paprika to give your burgers a smoky kick.
Vegetarian Version: Substitute the beef patty with veggie patties or even a portobello mushroom cap for a delicious vegetarian option.
